It is always a huge honor to learn from the best and have the opportunity to shoot side by side with someone you look up to as a photographer and person. Somehow the stars aligned perfectly and I was introduced to Stephanie Secrest and got to shoot a wedding with her! We hit it off completely and as she says, “We are cut from the same cloth.” She probably doesn’t remember saying that, but when someone you admire says that, You make sure to write that down in your journal…with a pen. So when Stephanie calls to see if I am free to second shoot I don’t even think twice!
Stephanie: “Hi Heather, would you like to second….
Heather: “I do! I mean Yes!”
So flash forward, I helped her out with Annie and Eric’s wedding at Blackhawk Country Club a few weekends back. Before I gush about how badly I need to hit the jackpot so I can move to Blackhawk and take tennis lessons and sip martinis, I would like to say that I absolutely LOVED Annie and Eric! I mean, when you meet a couple so fun, playful and in love all you want to do is sit them down to get the beginning of their love story since you have entered halfway through the book. From what I witnessed that day, I know that the following chapters will be so beautiful and fulfilling.
I was in charge of the guys, all of whom have known each other since high school. When I saw what a great bunch they were, I was dying to meet the bride. I knew she had to have a great sense of humor to keep up with Eric…and that she does. When I met her for the first time she was coming out of the limo. I was awe struck by how gorgeous and how completely welcoming she was. And Oh My Gosh (I spell out OMG when I am getting serious) her dress was AMAZING! Thanks Annie and Eric for having giving me the chance to meet you and be a part of such a special day!
Here are a few of my favorites from the day!
This first image cracks me up! Not one guy had a clue how to pin the boutonniere on…I had to step in and pin them even though I would have rather watched the comical struggle 🙂
I don’t think she was waving at me, but I like to think she was!
