I feel so blessed to be the chosen one to do Kelly and Colin’s Manhatten Beach Wedding in April. Kelly and I have been friends since we met freshman year in the dorms at Cal Poly. I have to admit that although Kelly and I go way back and share some amazing memories, I was so nervous for our session! I think it was because I knew all our friends would be paying close attention to how the photos turned out, and Kelly and Colin would see truly how crazy I get when I am behind my camera! With that said, the engagement session is by far my favorite! Without fail, I feel so much closer to the couple at the end of the session. I think the relationship that forms is so important for Game Day (The Big Day) because when it arrives we are old buds and there is a comfort level both for me and the bride and groom that really makes the whole wedding day so fun. Most importantly, the engagement session is when I get the butterflies because in my eyes, this is the session where I prove to the couple that they indeed have chosen the right person to capture one of the most important days of their lives. I get butterflies before every shoot and its a familiar feeling that brings me back to the days when I competed in soccer, volleyball, and pole vaulting in high school. It’s that rush that gets my adrenaline pumping and brings out my “A” game. Just like with any team sport, you play better if you know your teammates and have a connection with them…I think the same holds true for photography; get to know your clients before game day and the outcome will be a victory! haha! So with that said, I am confident that Kelly, Colin, and I are gonna have a Victory on Game Day after that amazing practice we had! Have I ever mentioned I love analogies!? Go Team! Kelly, you are going to be the most beautiful bride and I cannot wait to be a part of it all! Let’s not forget to mention how handsome Mr. Colin is gonna be of course!
